About the Role: W e are seeking a Financial Controller to join our Gore Performance Solutions (GPS) Accounting team. In our new organization, the GPS Financial Controller will oversee, manage, and lead the GPS' Accounting team, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting. Additionally, they will partner with the GPS Finance Leader on best practice, variance analysis and forecasting needs. This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs. Responsibilities: - Ensure the integrity of all general ledgers and, therefore, accurate, timely and consistent financial data, meet needs for external reporting and the foundation for internal management reporting
- Be accountable for 2.5 to 3 day monthly closing processes, seek continuous improvement in effectiveness and efficiency of related activities
- Coordinate with other financial controllers and interact with enterprise finance to maintain consistency and compliance with Enterprise policies, internal controls, US GAAP, and applicable local GAAPs
- Partner with GPS Finance leader on all accounting matters keeping Finance leadership apprised of issues and variances, both as they occur and in support of future forecasting needs
- Support the deployment of new financial and operational system tools to implement automation, improve efficiency, optimize controls, and overall improve accounting processes
- Engage with Manufacturing Cost Analysts and Accountants on manufacturing plant accounting matters
- Provide leadership to GPS accounting team through vision, expertise, experience, coaching, mentoring and support
- Continuously develop the GPS accounting team and enhance functional excellence through establishing functional strategy, training, best practices, global consistency, continuous improvement and accountability, and a well monitored internal control environment
- Liaise with external auditors and supports internal audit
- Be accountable for A/P Managed Services team
Required Qualifications: - Minimum 3 years of experience leading a Global Accounting Team and minimum 10 years of financial accounting experience
- Recognized accounting qualification, CPA or equivalent
- Large multinational manufacturing organization experience
- Strong US GAAP technical accounting knowledge
- Familiarity with financial regulations and accounting standards while keeping up to date with changes in regulatory requirements
- Adherence to ethical standards and integrity in financial management
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to comfortably interact across functions and teams globally
- Ability to contribute to strategic planning and decision-making
- Ability to travel 5-10% globally
