    Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time Social Worker position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

    Maine state licensure to practice as a LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, PsyD or PhD is required

    Position Summary

    Be ready to bring a value to primary care that has become the desired for providers and patients. Integrating behavioral health services in a medical setting enhances the overall care of patients. It increases provider comfort with treating behavioral health and it increases access to services while reducing stigma.

    This is an opportunity for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT), or a Psychologist (PsyD/PhD) with interest, training and/or experience integrating behavioral health services into pediatrics. This position is located in Maine Medical Partners South Portland Pediatrics & Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine, a well-established practice offering complete, integrated care to patients. Persons interested in this position must be comfortable working with kids of all ages (0-26). We seek someone who is experienced with working with patients 10 years and younger. Added opportunities to work with the Adolescents and Young Adult Medicine team with specific population such as include gender, substance use, and eating disorders.

    This is a 40-hour position with benefits. The role would include providing screening, assessments, and brief focused treatment to patients of the practice. Treatment structure includes individual, family, and group work, meeting with patients in person and virtually through telehealth.

    In addition to the clinical treatment, the clinician helps connect patients with additional resource, provides consultations and training to providers, and has the opportunity to participate in population health activities that targets the health and wellbeing of specific groups of people.

    The work is enhanced by being part of a medical team with solid experience in integrated work, in addition to collaborative work with psychiatrists and other integrated clinicians in the MaineHealth system. Individual supervision, psychiatry consultation, group supervision, and quarterly trainings are added benefits of this position.

    This position will be a generalist Master's Level mental health Clinician with interest, training and/or experience integrating mental health services into the primary care setting. This position will be placed in primary care practices, work with adults, families and children; and provide assessment, screening, and referral services. Additionally, brief individual therapy, prevention and educational services will be provided and include collaborative work with primary care physicians and their office staff, psychiatrists and other behavioral health providers.

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)




    Education: See "License/Certifications"
    License/Certifications: Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (preferred), or licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (by exception). Must have a valid Driver's license and reliable transportation.
    Experience: 2+ years of work experience in a health or mental health setting preferred, in order to have proficiency in psychosocial assessment and treatment. Must have considerable knowledge of community resources and agencies and how to use them in resolving complex problems related to health, illness and disability.
    Knowledge of social work theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare. Ability to teach basic social work principles and applications to the medical setting
