The role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients on a general surgery unit. Nights are the primary shift required, with a patient ratio of 6. The unit handles various robotic and laparoscopic-assisted procedures. Common surgeries include bariatric procedures, colon resections, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs, and gallbladder surgeries. Staff may also care for medical-surgical patients alongside surgical patients. Nurses will utilize skills in IV management, medication administration, and wound care. Team support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and rapid response teams. This position requires adherence to isolation precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
