Position Overview: Siemens Mobility is looking for a R&D Electronic Hardware Engineer with experience in Printed Circuit Board design to participate in the development and implementation of communication boards and electronic equipment for the railway industry. You will involved with the laboratory testing to verify the design and assume the responsibilities throughout the entire hardware development cycle, including requirements specification, design, implementation and testing. What your day-to-day will look like: - Develop new integrated circuit hardware/printed circuit board designs.
- Troubleshoot application problems and identify the root cause of hardware/software/field issues.
- Identify and propose solutions to mitigate anomalies through hardware and/or software changes.
- Review circuits/schematics, understand functionality, and recommend components.
- Develop maintenance, enhancement, and testing plans.
- Guide the quality process by detailed execution of module, sub-system, and system test procedures.
- Drive the completion of all engineering documentation to support design efforts.
- Develop accurate estimates for task duration, supporting the process for developing and maintaining schedules, cost, and quality.
- Develop documentation and training manuals.
- Guide specifications reviews and create hardware engineering requirements.
- Generate design documents, block diagrams, BOM's and prototype test plans.
To thrive in this role, you have: - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Three years of experience designing mixed-signal hardware featuring FPGAs, Processors, Microcontrollers, ADCs/DACs, and DC/DC converters.
- Schematic capture, multi-layer PCB design.
- Understand FMEA and Reliability Analysis.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: - Ability to perform initial hardware check-out and debug in a hands-on lab environment.
- Background in digital signal processing (FIR, IIR and FFT) using either MCU or FPGA
- TCP/IP or UDP experience
- Familiarity with HDL code generation tools flows such as Matlab, Simulink, Modelsim and/or Questasim)
- Familiar with wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, Zigbee and/or LoRaWAN.
- Understand how to reduce Radiated Emissions (RE), ESD, and Lightening susceptibility
- Understand signal and power Integrity and perform HyperLynx simulations
- Component stress analysis and reliability predictions
- FEA thermal analysis using Flowtherm XT.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testing (DFT) experience (Valor NPI)
- VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, Makefile, SQL, Python, C and/or Ada coding experience
- ML, DL or RL prediction and classification experience using Tensorflow lite or Pytorch
