• Position: Emergency Medicine Physician
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Mason City, Iowa 50401
• Start Date: July 10, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Coverage: Varied open FTE coverage with 9- and 12-hour shifts
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Shifts Per Week: Typically 3 shifts per week
• On Call: None
• Setting: Emergency Department, Level 3 Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
• Annual Patient Volume: Approximately 33,000 visits
• Average Daily Volume: 77 patients per day
• Team Environment: Physician coverage with APP support and supervision responsibilities

• Board Certified in Family Practice or ABEM
• Active Iowa medical license or IMLC eligibility
• Ability to obtain privileges quickly
• Clean background required
• ACLS and PALS required through AHA; waived if ER boarded
• ATLS required for trauma privileges
• Availability for July shifts with an active Iowa license and/or August shifts with IMLC
• At least 1 year of emergency medicine experience preferred

• Provide physician coverage in the emergency department
• Deliver timely, high-quality emergency care for a broad range of acute and emergent cases
• Supervise advanced practice providers as needed
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team in a teaching hospital environment
• Manage patient flow efficiently during peak hours and busy shifts
• Support safe transfer decisions and coordinated emergency care
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
