Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A registered nurse with stepdown experience is needed for a fast-paced, 22-bed stepdown unit in Glenwood, IA. This contract position offers a dynamic clinical environment where caring for patients with cardiac issues, respiratory distress, and stroke is the focus. Candidates must demonstrate critical thinking and IV drip titration skills in alignment with unit protocols. Key Responsibilities: - Provide direct nursing care to patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke - Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin responsibly - Independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips - Collaborate with respiratory therapists on CPAP troubleshooting - Float to ICU when appropriate based on experience - Function within 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios and support teamwork on a fast-paced unit - Participate in one 12-hour unit-specific orientation shift - Maintain compliance with fingernail policy and other professional standards Qualifications and Required Certifications: - Current RN licensure with experience in Stepdown nursing - BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory - Must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum 90% score during orientation (resources provided) - Valid drivers license and willingness to commute within a 50-mile radius - Candidates cannot have current or recent (within one year) employment with CommonSpirit facilities - Ability to self-schedule in cyclical 12-hour shifts (0630-1900, 1830-0700) with weekend and holiday rotation Location Overview:Glenwood, IA, is a welcoming community known for its friendly neighborhoods and convenient access to larger metropolitan areas.
