General Job Summary:

This is a full-time administrative position reporting to the Executive Dean. This is a multi-campus position with a home base on the Emmetsburg Campus. The Dean of Career and Technical Education (CTE) will be responsible for leading, managing, and providing strategic oversight for CTE. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, dynamic, and transformative leader who will build on existing strengths while pursuing new approaches to Career and Technical Education. The CTE Dean will collaborate with faculty, industry partners, government entities, partnering educational institutions, and college administrators to create strategic partnerships and institutional programming that facilitates student success and strives to meet community, industry, and workforce needs.

Constant

1. Supervise the day-to-day operations of Career and Technical Education programs, faculty, and staff.

2. Encourage and support faculty and staff professional development pursuits, including monitoring of Quality Faculty Plan progress.

3. Approach leadership and oversight responsibilities from a foundation of integrity, honesty, transparency, and a strong understanding of the college mission, values, and policies.

4. Develop and maintain meaningful and productive program partnerships with business and industry.

5. Collaborate with High School Partnerships and CTE faculty to facilitate an integrated Career Academy experience for concurrent enrollment students.

6. Conduct faculty observations, faculty evaluations, and staff performance evaluations.

7. Oversee the advisory committee process to encourage advisory member engagement and ensure Perkins compliance.

8. Initiate and assist CTE faculty in pursuing grant opportunities, curriculum development/modification, program development, partnerships, and other growth-oriented initiatives and opportunities.

9. Pursue CTE enrollment growth, retention, and successful completion of CTE programs.

10. Develop, maintain, and provide oversight for CTE and program-level budgets.

1. Monitor faculty load to ensure compliance with Department of Education and Higher Learning Commission

2. Analyze course offerings, enrollments, and available room/lab space to engage in strategic scheduling of CTE courses and labs.

- Collaborate with program faculty, the registrar, and the manager of online learning to develop a schedule that includes face-to-face, hybrid, and online course offerings.

3. Investigate and resolve student complaints and grievances in collaboration with appropriate faculty members and administrators, in accordance with established processes.

4. Actively represent Iowa Lakes Community College in DOE, Iowa Workforce, CTE, and other industry-focused committees, workgroups, organizations, and other partnerships to serve students, the community, and the regional workforce.

5. Manage the oversight and reporting processes required to ensure EPA, OSHA, and other areas regulatory compliance associated with CTE programs.

6. Monitor and facilitate the necessary maintenance, repair, and operation of CTE equipment.

1. Provide oversight and assistance to CTE programs in the assessment of student learning.

2. Represent CTE programs during annual college catalog development and revision processes.

3. Facilitate CTE recruitment events and participate in college-wide student recruitment activities.

4. Oversee the recruitment, screening, and hiring process of faculty and staff.

5. Collaborate with Continuing and Professional Education to ensure quality non-credit offerings consistent with credit programs.

6. Serve as Title IX Investigator.

Special Demands:

Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, and grasping frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, viewing various types of close visual work and repetitive motion constantly (67-100%). Must have valid driver's license, good driving record, and provide proof of insurance. Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle.



Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

AAS, Diploma, and/or equivalent industry-related certification/training/experience in a Career & Technical field represented in CTE offerings at Iowa Lakes Community College. Four (4) years of instructional experience or equivalent. Two (2) years of experience managing budgets and supervising personnel in higher education, or in an industry setting, or a combination of both.



Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in a Career & Technical field represented in CTE offerings at Iowa Lakes Community College or Education and/or Educational Leadership. Previous experience:

developing new and innovative programs that align to dynamic workforce needs
developing enrollment and retention strategies
coordinating and implementing innovative partnerships in business, industry, and/or local government in the furtherance of workforce, community, and/or economic development
fostering collaborative relationships within a variety of educational, professional, industry, community, and/or regulatory settings
