The 4/5 West Observation Unit is a brand new unit at Parkview Randallia. This new department will be a 20‑bed unit serving low‑acuity patients expected to have a length of stay of less than 48 hours, with an average stay of approximately 24 hours. The unit is divided evenly between 4 West and 5 West and functions as a short‑stay observation area with frequent admissions and discharges in a fast‑paced environment. Nurses care for patients admitted for brief observation and may also support after‑hours infusions, working alongside one patient care technician per floor. The team values adaptability, efficiency, and collaboration to ensure safe, timely care for patients transitioning quickly through their hospital stay. Summary Responsible to develop an overall view of patients, family and caregivers by establishing strong partnerships dedicated to optimal care. The NL facilitates the delivery of optimal patient care by the healthcare team through delegation, facilitation, collaboration, critical thinking and prioritization. The NL is accountable for the management of care and the care environment by ensuring effective communication through all members of the healthcare team. Independently plans and provides excellent professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders, established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and the ANA Code of Ethics. Education Must obtain Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within three years of employment or will not be eligible to continue in the role. Coursework is completed outside of work hours. Licensure/Certification Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required. Must have current CPR certification. Additional certifications may be required for specified areas.
