Job Description Job Description Position Overview Kratos is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support system-level testing within the OpenSpace development organization. This role focuses on validating complex software systems through structured testing, automation, and troubleshooting within mission-critical defense environments. The engineer will work closely with development teams to design and execute system tests, troubleshoot test environments, and ensure software performance meets system and program requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Test & Validation - Design, develop, and execute system-level software tests - Validate software performance against system and functional requirements - Develop detailed test plans, procedures, and reports Test Environment Support - Install and configure software within test environments - Troubleshoot issues within test infrastructure and systems - Assist with diagnosing test failures and environment issues Test Automation & Scripting - Develop scripts using Python, Bash, C, or C++ - Support automated testing frameworks and validation tools - Assist with continuous integration testing and automation pipelines Data & Requirements Traceability - Record and correlate test data within software quality systems - Ensure traceability between test results, requirements, and work items - Document defects and test results clearly for development teams Cross-Team Collaboration - Work closely with developers, systems engineers, and QA teams - Participate in software verification and validation activities - Support engineering efforts throughout the software development lifecycle Qualifications Education - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field Experience - Minimum 5 years of experience in software testing or software verification - Experience supporting the software development lifecycle (SDLC) Technical Skills - Test planning, execution, and validation - Software debugging and troubleshooting - Test automation frameworks - Python, Bash, C, or C++ - Requirements traceability tools and configuration management systems Security Clearance - Active Secret clearance required Preferred Experience - Testing defense, embedded, or mission-critical software systems - Radar or signal processing systems - CI/CD pipeline automation tools (Azure DevOps, Bamboo) - Git-based version control systems (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) - Artifact management tools (JFrog Artifactory) - Containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher) Work Environment - Engineering and software development environment - Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams - Structured testing and verification processes Ideal Candidate Experienced software test engineer skilled in validating complex defense systems, building automated test environments, and ensuring mission-critical software meets strict performance and reliability standards.
