Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a knowledgeable Registered Nurse with stepdown and med-surg experience to provide exceptional patient care on a 13-week contract assignment. This role focuses on caring for patients with respiratory issues, weakness, urinary tract infections, acute kidney injury, and chest pain in a dynamic stepdown setting with a 20-bed unit. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to stepdown and med-surg patients with complex medical needs. Titrate drips including heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone according to protocols. Monitor vital signs and cardiac telemetry, interpreting data independently. Collaborate with respiratory therapists utilizing equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen. Serve as charge nurse or house supervisor as needed. Adhere to unit-specific policies, including dress code and orientation requirements. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Current RN licensure with stepdown and med-surgical nursing experience. BLS and ACLS certification required. Skilled in managing monitored patients with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in stepdown and 1:5-6 on the floor. Comfortable working alongside nurse aides and monitor techs. Ability to fulfill weekend and holiday rotation shifts (12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule). Valid drivers license required for submission due to 50-mile radius policy.
