The Nursing Supervisor (RN), under the direction fo the DON, will help plan, direct, and evaluate total patient care and to assume management responsibilities for the nursing department. Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees and the needs of the patients.Evaluates patients response to nursing care and modifies or revises treatment plans, and/or contacts physicians as circumstances require.Renders professional nursing care including administering medications, and initiating and maintaining intravenous fluids according to hospital policy and procedures. Understands the pharmacology and recognizes the side effects of medications administered. Performs lab draws and reports findings to appropriate personnel.Responsible to perform Point of Care testing as assigned and trained, maintain competency for testing and quality control procedures. Reports lab results and documents in the patient chart. Collects blood samples for laboratory testing according to lab procedures.Performs both complex and routine treatments as prescribed by physicians or as warranted by patients condition.Makes regular rounds of assigned patients independently and with physicians. Observes and evaluates patients symptoms, progress and reactions to treatments and mediations. Takes corrective actions as indicated.Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution. Communicates with other hospital departments, as necessary, in order to resolve operational problems and make the most effective use of hospitalQualifications:Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN) preferredMust be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of INOne year of nursing experience required.Prefer experience in the nursing education and/or psychiatric and acute care setting, but is not required.by Jobble More...
