Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; NIH preferred Must-Have: MS/Telemetry and Telemetry experience required. Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills is necessary. Interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and telemetry on-unit monitoring required. Familiarity with Rapid Response Teams is required. Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips required. Feeding tube care and management experience required. Experience with patients with renal failure is mandatory. Skills in accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care/management, and peripheral line care/management must be demonstrated. Starting IVs is required. Familiarity with heparin protocols and titrating vasoactive drips is necessary. Experience with cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) and total joint replacements is required. Respiratory skills including external CPAP/BIPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration must be present. Non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy management experience is required. Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac is essential. Description: The position involves working in a medical-surgical/telemetry setting. The average daily census is 19 with a 30-bed unit capacity. The candidate will work every other weekend. The schedule may accommodate requests; however, all time-off requests must be discussed with management. The clinician will float within their skill level to meet facility needs if necessary. Community hospital experience is preferred. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, and pharmacy. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses in this setting include congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, cellulitis, pancreatitis, and others. The unit handles special procedures like wound dressing, long-term IV antibiotics, central lines, and blood transfusions. Proper management and care for various acute medical conditions are essential. The candidates must be able to interact effectively as part of a healthcare team.
