ScopeThe Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Graduate - Designer 1 will be responsible for assisting Senior Project Engineers or Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis in the preparation of reports, permit applications and construction plan preparation. May emphasize in traffic, municipal, transportation or other specialized area.Principal Responsibilities - Perform basic calculations based on assignment i.e. hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or calculations to balance site earthwork
- Pipe sizing and loading calculations
- Channel and culvert hydraulics
- Highway capacity software
- Traffic impact analysis
- Flexible pavement design and rigid pavement design
- Geometric pavement and site circulation design
- Roadway Plan/Profile design drawings
- Site grading and earthwork computations
- Interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs
- Regularly has work assignments checked by peer or supervisor
- Other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings
- Knowledge and understanding of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
- Skill in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3Dsoftware
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to consistently produce high quality construction documents
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible is preferredEducation and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering
- Must have passed the fundamental portion of professional engineering licensing exam or be actively pursuing a passing score
- Prior direct experience is preferred but no prior direct experience is required for an entry level positionPhysical Requirements
