Job Title: Packer/DumperReports To: Production SupervisorLocation:-- Oswego, IL--Number of Positions: 2 --Summary:-- Responsible for the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment.--The equipment includes hoppers, filler machines, bulk packaging machines, jar packaging machine, check weighers, metal detectors, conveyors, case packers, labelers, and tooling. The associate ensures that quality products are packaged in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner. Primarily function is to dispense of product into the mezzanine hopper but will work in other positions on the packaging line as needed.--Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Dispenses product into the mezzanine hopperReads packaging schedule or follows verbal instructions to ascertain product to be dispensed into the hopperUnloads and loads drums of product to and from palletsOpens drums of product and unloads/ loads drums of product onto electric dumper or electric hoistReads product number and lot number of each unit of product and communicates to the line operator the product and lot number of each unitClean and attach identifying tags or labels to each drum with designated labelWash and assemble mezzanine and lower-level hopper, parts, and clean entire work areaReads packaging schedule or follows verbal instructions to label the packaging materialReview and inspects labels to verify placement, clarity of printing, and information accuracyMay affix labels to corrugated materials, jars, bottle or bagOperate glue machine, glue gun, label applicator, shrink wrap, pallet lift, manual- and electric-pallet jackObserves packaged precuts for uneven or torn edges to determine which labels are usableManually fill cases when neededCompares items packed with the schedule and other identifying data and records the number of materials labeled and completes line check formsStacks cases onto pallets in designated format and operates automated case packer and printerTransports pallets of product to the designated staging areaMaintains a clean and orderly work areaComplete all training defined and made available.--Responsible for attending all training made available assuring full understanding of the training and have the ability to perform trained activities.Responsible for the review of specific functional area BRC criteria.-- Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required. Provide employee training as needed. Ensure Food products meet safety, quality and legal requirementsPerforms other duties as assigned by Supervisor or asked by Line Operator to assist--Requirements: --------------------------Education and/or ExperienceHS Diploma/GED Preferred--Communication SkillsIt is essential to have excellent communication skills, verbal and writtenAbility to read and follow written work instructions--Mathematical SkillsMust have basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide--------------------------------Reasoning Ability-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructionsAbility to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables--Other QualificationsMust be able to complete forklift certification program----------------------------Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk, climb or balance and stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.-- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.--Environmental Concerns-- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.-- Floors are wet. Use of sharp knives is required to open bags, cartons, and drums.-- The employee is regularly exposed to very cold, wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration.
