Job Description


Applies detailed knowledge of a specific technology or science gained through education or experience to write work packages and provide directions for complex work evolutions. Collaborates with subject matter experts to convey technical direction and explanation of technology in a manner which permits independent operation and maintenance. Exercises judgment and discretion in ensuring proper environmental, safety and health requirements are met.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill


High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; orAssociate's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; orBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field.

-Experience with technical writing
-Ability to network and develop effective relationships
-Familiarity with environmental requirements and industry best practices
-Background in industrial construction and/ or production facility operations
-Demonstrated ability to follow, improve, or establish procedures and processes
-General understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical, telecommunication, fire protection and other facility systems and/ or components
-Experience with engineered drawings and specifications
-Ability to use drafting software
-Familiarity with general project management principles and practices

Pay Range


$67,800 - $103,800 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
