Job Description Hospitalist – Duluth & Virginia, Minnesota Permanent Position | Multiple Campuses QUICK SNAPSHOT Position Type: Permanent Specialty: Hospital Medicine Locations: Duluth, MN (Tertiary Care Center) Virginia, MN (Community Hospital) Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off Full-Time Definition: 175 shifts per year EMR: Epic (system-wide) PROGRAM OVERVIEW Established 25-year Hospitalist program 58 physicians and 17 NP/PAs Team-based, collegial culture Flexible scheduling Opportunities for teaching, research, and quality initiatives DULUTH, MN – MAIN CAMPUS DETAILS 350-bed tertiary care hospital Level I Trauma Center Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center Attached 140-bed multispecialty hospital (Essentia Health Duluth) Open ICU (no ventilator management required) Staffing & Census Physician-only teams: 16–18 patients/day Shared APP/Physician teams: 24–28 patients/day Dedicated day teams, admitters, and nocturnist coverage Additional Highlights No procedures required Inpatient teaching service for Family Medicine residents Strong subspecialty support VIRGINIA, MN – COMMUNITY CAMPUS DETAILS 30-bed hospital Level IV Trauma Center Certified Stroke Ready facility Hospitalist-run ICU Staffing & Census Day: 1 Physician 1 APP Night: Dedicated physician nocturnist Average team census: 14–28 patients , including admissions ICU / ACU DETAILS Ventilator management required for 24–48 hours Critical Care consults readily available Subspecialty consults via phone or telehealth Additional Services General Surgery ENT Orthopedics OB/GYN Full lab and imaging (CT, MRI) SCHEDULE & WORKFLOW Typical 7-on / 7-off schedule year-round Flexible block scheduling Balanced mix of rounding, admissions, and consults LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Board Certified / Board Eligible – Internal Medicine OR Board Certified / Board Eligible – Family Medicine Strong interest and experience in hospital-based care required Mentorship opportunities available PROCEDURES No procedures required at either location NEXT STEPS RecruitWell can coordinate a direct phone call with you and the client to review details and assess mutual fit.
