As an Oncology Nurse Navigator, you will serve as a vital partner and advocate for patients as they navigate every stage of their cancer journey. This advanced nursing position blends clinical knowledge with personalized guidance—ensuring each patient receives coordinated, seamless, and meaningful support. In this role, you’ll build trusted relationships with patients and families, collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team, and help connect individuals to the resources they need from diagnosis through survivorship. Your leadership will streamline treatment pathways, remove barriers, and empower patients with the education and confidence they need at every step. Be the steady, knowledgeable presence who helps patients feel seen, supported, and never alone. Position Details: Nurse Navigator - Oncology Mercy South Sindelar Cancer Center Monday through Friday, Full Time Key Responsibilities: Service Excellence Participates in tumor boards, research, and task forces. Supports updates to policies, procedures, and protocols. Direct Patient Care Serves as first point of contact for newly diagnosed patients. Provides assessments, referrals, education, and advocacy. Removes barriers to care and supports the physician–patient relationship. Documentation & Metrics Documents all encounters in Epic. Tracks and analyzes outcomes and productivity data. Care Coordination Manages a large patient caseload efficiently. Screens for genetic testing and clinical trial eligibility. Acts as liaison between patients, providers, and departments. Patient Education Delivers individualized patient education and updates materials annually. Supports survivorship planning and connects with community resources. Qualifications: Education : Graduate from an approved school of nursing Experience : 2 years related experience Licensure : RN (Registered nurse) licensed in state of practice Certification (s): BLS (Basic Life Support) is required within 30 days of hire is required. Preferred Qualifications: Education : Bachelor of Science Nursing Experience : 3 years in an oncology setting is preferred. Formal patient education and community educational presentations Support group facilitation Certification(s) : Certification in Oncology Nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification Why Mercy?
