The Family Law Program (FLP) Paralegal provides a wide range of legal support to the Family Law Program Managing Attorney and Staff Attorney(s). The paralegal consults with and serves survivors of intimate partner abuse and volunteer attorneys.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree or Associate degree in the paralegal studies field or a paralegal certificate. Additionally, the applicant must have a minimum of five (5) years of paralegal/administrative experience.Knowledge and Skill Requirements - Experience working with and advocating for survivors of intimate partner abuse preferred.Job Title Family Law Program (FLP) ParalegalReports To FLP Managing AttorneyDepartment Safe and Stable FamiliesSupervision NoneGrade Salary range $50,000-$59,000 FSLA: ExemptManages cloud-based client records on Salesforce and Dropbox platformsLiaises between the FLP attorneys, clients, and volunteer attorneys. Conducts regular check-ins withvolunteers and provides volunteer support. Attends events related to family law in Fulton County.Involvement with the local Bar Association and community partners is strongly encouraged.Provides general case support to the FLP attorneys including drafting, research, preparing for trial, anddocument management. Additionally provides support to clients who are survivors of intimate partnerabuse.Prepares and e-files pleadings; provides all aspects of litigation support for the FLP attorneys includingmaintaining a calendar of important deadlines and ensuring compliance with timelinesRemains informed on family law legal procedures, especially with respect to the Fulton County FamilyDivision.Identifies areas for improvement in Safe & Stable Families programming and exercises judgment as towhat changes should be implemented for the FLP to function properly, professionally, and efficiently.Assists clients with the preparation of pro se pleadings, under the direction and supervision of the FLPManaging Attorney or Staff Attorney. Provides extensive support to clients through the process of filingtheir own pro se pleadings. - Experience working with clients of diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds preferred. - Experience working in a fast-paced legal environment preferred. - Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills. - The capacity to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously, often with competing deadlines. - Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people to both understand, support, and convey the clients' and advocates' needs. - Strong collaborative skills. - Ability to derive creative solutions. - Must be respectful and responsive to cultural beliefs and practices within a client's community. - Attention to detail and a commitment to executing with excellence. - Must be organized and be able to prioritize clients' needs effectively. - Proficient with MS Office Suite.
