PURPOSE

Promotes safety work practices and influences safe work behavior. Ensuring optimal efficiency and safety for the company. Strives to promote a healthful and safe workplace for all team members by following safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Monitor safety standards in accordance with all applicable Local, State and Federal regulations, including (OSHA, DOT/FMCSA and EPA).
Supervise and coordinate safety related activities, including the tracking and reporting of safety performance to management.
Review trends in Workers' Compensation and Automobile accidents. Communicate with market management to review statistics, patterns, etc.
Ensure thorough accident investigation forms are completed after each Workers' Compensation and Automobile accidents
Provide yearly safety and driver training according to OSHA, DOT, company standards, and policies to current team members and new team members
Work with locations to identify repeat offenders and ensure proper documentation and re-training is issued to team member.
Ensure mock risk assessments are completed at each location prior to District Manager's final risk assessment and ensure monthly safety inspections are completed at each location.
Provide and conduct training through safety materials, coaching and mentoring.
Inspect tools, machines and equipment for accident prevention, including required safety devices and procedures.
Assist with testing and servicing safety equipment and systems.
Observe workers and evaluate job activities to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, hardhats, goggles, respirators, clothing, and other equipment.
Identify and evaluate detrimental working conditions
Inspect specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety and first aid supplies.
Investigate causes of accidents to identify preventative safety measures for incorporation into the safety program.
Maintain programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate personnel injuries.
Conduct audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials.
Assist with testing and servicing safety equipment and systems.
Demonstrate use of safety equipment.
Observe workers and evaluate job activities to determine use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses, hard hats, goggles, respirators, clothing, and other equipment.
Assist in the processes and procedures associated with DOT/FMCSA for drivers and operators of company owned/leased equipment.
Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement.
Adhere to the Company's safety standards and enforce safety regulations.
Other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Associate's degree in related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in Safety Administration.
Knowledge of DOT regulatory requirements.

COMPETENCIES


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and to the public.
Strong excel capabilities (work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry/ apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.)
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, mathematical, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Requires a valid driver's license.
Understanding of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations.
OSHA 30-hour certification required.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.

Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
