Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information Health Sciences and Kinesiology John Dobson, Search Chair 912-478-0200 Job Summary The Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology is a dynamic and growing unit of over 50 faculty and staff serving over 2,000 majors enrolled in a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. This position will fill teaching needs within the department's Coaching Education and Exercise Science programs. The Coaching Education program includes an undergraduate minor and an online concentration within our Masters in Kinesiology degree. Both the undergraduate minor and graduate concentration are accredited by the United States Center for Coaching Excellence. The Exercise Science program includes both an undergraduate degree with approximately 1000 students and a concentration within our Masters in Kinesiology degree with approximately 25 students. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology, the Lecturer of Kinesiology position requires teaching five courses per semester, primarily in the undergraduate Coaching Minor. These courses may include Principles of Coaching, Sport Conditioning Lab, Coaching Baseball/Softball, Coaching Football, Coaching Olympic Sports, Psychology of Coaching, Principles of Officiating, and Coaching Practicum. Candidates with a terminal degree in Coaching Education or a closely related discipline may also teach courses in the graduate Coaching Education concentration, including Sport Coaching Pedagogy, Research Methods, and Administrative Issues in Coaching. Candidates who have completed at least 18 hours of graduate work in Exercise Science or a closely related field may also teach undergraduate Exercise Science courses such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, Research Methods, and Exercise Physiology Lab. The position is a 10-month non-tenure track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications Earned master's degree* in Coaching Education, Exercise Science, or a closely related discipline by August 1, 2024. At least 18 graduate semester hours in Coaching Education or a closely related field and/or relevant coaching experience is also required. Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives. Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. *Note: An earned doctorate in Coaching Education or a closely related discipline will be required to teach courses in the graduate Coaching Education program. Preferred Qualifications University/college teaching experience. High school and/or college coaching experience. Potential for online teaching. Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
