Theprimary responsibility of this position is to weigh birds, electronically post those weights, and take blood and fat samples from live birds.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assignedas production demands may require:_ Weigh birds in broiler houses then estimate and place weights on kill schedule and email to all parties involved._ Take blood and fat samples from live and euthanized birds and prepare them for shipment daily._Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as maybe specified by customer or client._ Must have reliable transportation independent of others to and from company facilities.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to physically perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of theknowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made toenable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience with emails, excel documents, acess documents and common computer skills are required.LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:Drivers License (light duty vehicles) MVR records will be examined for violations yearly.TRAINING REQUIREMENT/METHODS:All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performingthe above duties. Once employee completes this training they will be assigned to aSupervisor who will further orient the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her toemployees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingressand egress procedures to and from work station. A training buddy may be assigned tonew employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:Those responsible for training and indoctrination may include: personnel representative,safety director, supervisor, and current hourly workers as assigned.METHOD OF TRACKING EMPLOYEE PROGRESS:The supervisor is accountable for tracking employee progress and performance.EXIT TRAINING FOR MEASURING TRAINING EFFECTIVENESSA specific probationary period is assigned to all employees hired to evaluate theemployee effectiveness and performance. At the end of this period the supervisor willevaluate the job performance of each new employee utilizing current forms andprocedures in effect at that time. The employee will be rated and evaluated on essentialwork duties listed above as well as attendance, tardiness, interaction with co-workersand management, attitudes and work actions. Unacceptable performance of duties,disciplinary actions will be documented on corrective action reports and appropriatepersonnel records. Absent any negative actions, the employee may be eligible for awage increase according to wage and salary policies in effect at that time.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonableaccommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform theessential functions.Outside exposure to weather conditions, wet, hot / cool, dust and odors.Operate a light duty truck on and off road in changing weather conditions and during periods of night and day.PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (List any and all personal safety or health protection equipment and gearrequired by either regulatory or sanitary procedures)_ Bio-security equipment: plastic boots, coveralls, hairnets_ Understand use of Dust mask, protective gloves, safety glasses, flashlight, first aid kit, fire extinguisher training._ Required to have flu-shots, hepatitis B vaccine, tetanus vaccine. These will be supplied by Pilgrim s.SAFETY FACTORS TO BE AWARE OF:_ Be aware of surroundings at all times and use extreme caution when.Driving, walking, carrying equipment, moving about in unfamiliar areas of broiler houses and farms._ Be alert to commercial trucks operating around farms._ Be alert to farm equipment operating around farms._ Be always alert or weather changes and low and bright light conditions._Must be able to think and react quickly.
