Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN experience required. A critical care nursing opportunity is available in Punta Gorda, FL, for experienced registered nurses with a background in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings. This contract role supports adult and geriatric patients and requires a flexible nursing professional capable of providing high-quality stepdown care with a focus on patient safety and teamwork. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care in a Stepdown/PCU environment Manage patient ratios typically between 4 to 6 patients per nurse, adjusted to patient acuity Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and float between sister campuses as needed Adhere to documentation protocols using the Epic electronic medical record system Maintain current certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Qualifications and Desired Experience: Minimum of 2 years PCU nursing experience is mandatory (Emergency Department experience not required) Valid Florida Nursing license or Compact License with up-to-date Nursys verification Bachelors degree in Nursing or a minimum of 5 years nursing experience Flexibility to work across multiple campus locations within a 50-mile radius Ability to adhere to strict documentation and submission deadlines Demonstrated cultural adaptability and ability to function as core staff within the unit Location Overview:Punta Gorda, FL, offers a charming, coastal lifestyle characterized by beautiful waterfronts, recreational fishing, and close-knit community amenities.
