Job Description The Jacksonville Ship Repair (JSR) Contracts Director reports to the Senior Director of Contracts for the BAE Systems Ship Repair business area and is responsible for oversight of the JSR Contracts team. The JSR Contracts Director is a key part of the JSR business management team and directly supports the JSR Vice President/General Manager. This role also engages with cross-functional teams to develop contracting strategies and support overall business area objectives. Specific duties and responsibilities include: - Directing and leading the entire contracts life cycle from capture to closeout: Oversee Contracts participation in proposal activities, such as negotiations, pricing and proposal development, and supporting the development of cost/price/terms and teaming strategies. Responsible for coordinating proposal reviews (RBAs), documenting, and securing approvals to submit proposals. Actively participates in and/or leads resolution of complex contracts issues and negotiations.
- Managing and leading the JSR Contracts team: Manage all employment actions, including but not limited to, hiring, promoting, training, performing reviews, planning merit increases, and succession planning. Responsibility for the growth and development of next generation Contracts managers and leaders within the business unit. Responsible for keeping staff informed, motivated, and working efficiently. Influences career development and establishes training opportunities for contract professionals to enhance individual capabilities and elevate team performance.
- Managing policies and procedures: Development, implementation, and maintenance of Contracts policies and procedures, including ensuring adequate policies are in place and verifying compliance to ensure achievement of corporate expectations.
- Interfacing with Stakeholders: Provide expertise, guidance, training, and leadership to support cross-functional business team members. Lead discussions and/or briefings with various leadership and other key personnel, participate in complex negotiations, and develop contract management strategies to mitigate risk. Ensure efficient and effective flow of information among Estimating team, leadership team, cross-functional teams, and/or customer(s) as needed.
- Managing Customer Relationships: Interface with key government contracting and procurement officials as required and/or needed.
- Supporting Special Projects as needed.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 12 years contracts management experience required.
- Excellent communication, presentation, team-building and leadership skills, with the ability to perform in a complex cross-functional business environment.
- Excellent writing skills is a must, with the ability to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and policies/procedures.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, solicitations/RFPs, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to effect and manage change.
- Motivational and visionary leadership skills, including the ability to recognize and develop emerging leadership talent.
- Experienced in the entire life cycle of prime and subcontract contracting, from proposal phase to contract closeout.
- Well versed in the following types of contracts: Commercial, DOD Cost type, Firm Fixed Price, T&M, and Services Contracts. Proficiency with FAR and DFARS.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role managing and developing contracting professionals.
- Experienced in non-DOD, commercial contracting including risk management and other contracting elements.
- Strong business acumen and experienced in risk management. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
