Job Summary Performs a variety of general mechanic/maintenance lubrication activities in the mobile shop area, machinery and equipment and runs oil test and analyzes test results to assure that equipment is well maintained and in good running order so that optimum production can be obtained. This job position interfaces, daily, with the rest of the operations in this quarry. The employee holding this job must perform the work activities in a correct, accurate, and timely fashion since every single work activity in our line of business is crucial for the whole operation. Job Responsibilities - Maintains correct oil/grease levels in all equipment.
- Maintains all machinery and equipment properly lubricated:
- Loaders, Haul Trucks, auxiliary equipment's and pickup trucks
- Oil and Lubricants:
- Takes oil samples as schedule and sends out for oil tests/analysis
- Fills out oil statistical reports and interprets result for contamination
- Stores and cares for oil and lubricants
- Maintains and is responsible for adequate Lube inventory in stock
- Coordinates with stores/inventory
Qualifications - Lube technician must observe and comply with all Safety policies and procedures.
- Complete safety, health and task training.
- Assists plant personnel as required.
- Ability to perform first aid treatment.
- Ability to use lubricating equipment operator's manuals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and deal with problems from standardized situations.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition and subtraction of four-digit numbers, fractions, and common units measurements.
- Ability to read and understand English sufficiently to be able to read technical information contained in manuals and/or technical brochures, statistical reports, completion of various paperwork and to recognized differences between words, including safety issues and related matters.
- Ability to communicate well with supervisors, mechanics, leadman, welders, and outside technical personnel specially regarding lubrication related matters -oil, grease, and other products-.
- Lifting, carrying, pulling and/or moving of 50 pounds minimum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds, of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to detect safety and environmental hazards, equipment malfunctioning and respond accordingly.
- Ability to use standard mechanical hand tools and lubricating, equipment of different types.
Working Conditions - Exposed to dust, heat, humanity, fumes, cold and dampness when working outside. Shop is not air-conditioned.
- May work night shift and extended hours to meet work demands.
- May work continuously several hours without a break.
- Exposed to intense heat while working outdoors.
- May work in small areas and/or confined spaces.
