If you like working with a generous, supportive, high-performing team, Gartner is where you want to be.About this role:As a Gartner S2C Category Manager you play an essential role in leading strategic sourcing opportunities, developing category plans, and negotiating complex contracts, often globally, on behalf of multiple business unit (BU) stakeholders. We are looking for a candidate that is a highly effective communicator able to articulate the value proposition of partnering early and often with the S2C team. This role is primarily focused on Human Resource (HR) and Legal services and will also support other corporate business units such as Finance (Corporate Controller's Group, Corporate Development & Strategy, Financial Planning and Analysis, Global Real Estate, Revenue & Deal Operations, Tax, Transformation Office, Travel and Treasury) with agreements for professional services, recruiting, training, consulting and SaaS solutions. This role delivers value by utilizing effective sourcing and negotiation strategies that reduce both organizational costs and risks while improving vendor performance and encouraging innovation from the supply base.What you'll do: - Build strong relationships with senior leaders and BU stakeholders across Gartner's global entities to foster a robust understanding of their mission critical priorities and requirements for spend categories and suppliers.
- Serve as the Procurement SME for your stakeholders and guide them on strategic sourcing and operational procurement processes. Communicate frequently and often. Host or participate in routine meetings with stakeholders to align on priorities. Proactively seek ways to reduce cost, bring efficiency and foster innovation.
- Develop Category Plans for assigned categories and present them to senior management. Outline trends, key supplier spend, sourcing recommendations, category roadmaps, supplier consolidation initiatives, market intelligence and new opportunities for cost savings and measurable business impact.
- Maintain knowledge of category trends, vendor capabilities and changes within the supplier and technology landscape for traditional and emerging solutions.
- Develop short and long-term supplier sourcing strategies. Lead cross functional teams through a disciplined sourcing process which includes facilitating stakeholders through developing requirements, evaluating suppliers and supplier selection using good project management skills. Ensure all sourcing initiatives are conducted in a fair and ethical manner that provides a level playing field for all participants.
- Develop and execute effective negotiation plans for contracts aligned with stakeholder desired outcomes for TCO, SLAs and key business terms. Demonstrate competency and knowledge of contract development, key contracting principles, standard terms, laws/regulations and industry standards during contract negotiations.
- Negotiate various contract types including professional service agreements, SOWs, SaaS/subscription/license master agreements, Order Forms, Amendments, Addendums and NDAs.
- Ensure agreement terms minimize risk and properly protect Gartner's interests. Manage compliance during all phases of the contracting process. Coordinate with Gartner Legal, Finance, IT Security and Ombuds when needed. Ensure all Third-Party Risk Management checks are complete prior to contract signature. Route contracts for approval and signature as required by Gartner policy.
- Organizes data sets and develops meaningful analysis of spend, cost and performance metrics and presents compelling business cases to influence decision makers at all levels of the organization.
- Guide stakeholders on preferred suppliers. Conduct routine planning sessions with business unit stakeholders to ensure addressable spend in assigned categories is with contracted vendors and considered "managed".
- Support S2C Buyers when reviewing/approving P2P requisitions and new supplier requests. Coach S2C Buyers on conducting less complex sourcing and contract negotiations.
- Guide BU stakeholders in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). Conduct supplier segmentation reviews to align with stakeholders on supplier relationship priorities. Facilitate supplier business reviews with stakeholders to review supplier performance, future opportunities and/or challenges. Foster strategic and successful, long-standing partnerships with suppliers.
- Become an expert using the S2C tools for e-sourcing, contract lifecycle management, e-signatures, spend analysis, market intelligence, operational procurement and S2C metrics.
- Support the Supplier Diversity program to bring qualified small and diverse suppliers into the supply base.
- Support the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by proactively sourcing/contracting with suppliers enabling Gartner to meet its zero-greenhouse gas emissions goal.
- Support M&A activities as needed to facilitate a smooth transition of acquisitions or divestitures from a supplier contractual standpoint.
- Continue your own self-development. Train, coach and mentor other associates on sourcing, negotiation and contract writing skills. Assist with onboarding new team members.What you'll need:
