Job Summary (Primary function)The Sr. Research Investigator in Computational Biology and Data Science will provide advanced analytical, bioinformatics, and machine learning support for Translational and Discovery projects in Translational Medicine. The successful candidate will perform integrative analysis of diverse data types, develop and utilize next generation sequencing (NGS) and other analytical pipelines, and collaborate with internal and external investigators for interpretation of high dimensional data sets to inform biomarker hypotheses, target discovery, and other biological queries. Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

  • Provide analytical support for translational biomarker data in preclinical projects and clinical programs
  • Analyze and interpret genome-scale NGS data sets (DNA-seq/RNA-seq/scRNA/CITE-seq)
  • Identify and evaluate pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers for translational programs
  • Provide strong technical and biological expertise within a highly collaborative cross-functional environment
  • Utilize and contribute to next generation sequencing pipelines and other advanced analytical methods
    Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
    • Strong scientific background with an advanced degree in the field of computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, data science, or biostatistics and at least 2 years of industry or related experience in Oncology (Ph.D. - and at least 2 years experience; MS - and at least 4 years relevant oncology experience)Proficiency in R (tidyverse, Bioconductor), Shiny, and scripting languages (Python, Perl) required with working experience with RStudio, git, and Jupyter Notebooks and/or VScode.Strong Linux/Unix skills and experience with AWS cloud computing and Nextflow experience preferred.Deep experience with Oncology and/or ImmunoOncology data-driven projects preferred.Working knowledge and experience with public Oncology resources including TCGA, ICGC, CCLE, DepMap, cBioPortal, dbGaP, etc.Experience in applying high performance computing for analysis of large omics data sets.Experience with high dimensional data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence and statistics preferred.Ability to balance execution of multiple tasks to accomplish program and project goals.High level of emotional intelligence and willingness to work closely and collaboratively with other functional groups, internal and external to the company, with the ability to independently troubleshoot and solve problems creatively.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this job.
