Job Summary:Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with expertise in Linux to architect, implement, integrate, and sustain Linux technologies. This is a hybrid role, located in Washington, D.C. (3 days on-site.) This role involves working within a primary Windows infrastructure across multiple classification levels to help clients meet evolving demands and missions. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in accelerating digital modernization for our clients while advancing your career.Responsibilities of the Principal Systems Engineer: - Merge Linux systems (RHEL 7/8 and Ubuntu) into a primary Windows environment, ensuring seamless authentication, authorization, and accounting activities controlled by Active Directory with PKI certificates and Single Sign On.
- Set up new Linux systems for customer use, ensuring initial configurations adhere to required enterprise baselines and controls.
- Interface Linux systems with other enterprise tools such as ACAS, Splunk, SolarWinds, and backup systems.
- Manage patches across a diverse Linux environment (Ubuntu, RHEL 7/8) in a heavily automated manner.
- Guarantee that provisioned Linux systems maintain compliance with baseline requirements and evolving enterprise policy.
- Formulate an operating system lifecycle plan, incorporating DoD STIGs and other recommended security standards.
- Oversee all integrated solutions via a centralized alerting system.
- Validate log management and forwarding to a single repository.Qualifications of the Principal Systems Engineer:
- 15+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technology field.
- VMWare management/administration experience.
- Extensive experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, or a derivative.
- Ability to work independently
- Candidate must acquire DoD Instruction 8570 Level II Certification within 6 months of assignment.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibilityCompensation of the Principal Systems Engineer:
