This is a US Hybrid/Remote role, with the option to work from any of Newfront's offices. #LI-Remote.The Platform and Infrastructure team is the core engineering organization sitting at the center of all engineering teams of Newfront. Its mission is to build a world class platform to serve shared engineering abstractions across different teams and empower other engineers at Newfront to build better. It is a high-impact org and owns multiple domains such as: - Cloud Infrastructure on AWS (EKS, RDS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, S3, etc.).
- Kubernetes Cluster / Helm Chart Management.
- CI/CD pipelines.
- Full observability stack including logging, alerting, monitoring, and on-call management tools.
- Developer productivity tools.
- Authentication and authorization systems.
- Shared platform services such as notifications, search, user management, files storage, etc.
- AI / LLM infrastructure and platform to supercharge engineers to build AI / LLM based applications.What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Be a technical leader and owner of Platform and Infrastructure Team, working through ambiguity, concept validation and implementing a best-in-class solution.
- Identify areas of improvement and drive foundation opportunities for the whole organization to improve Newfront's infrastructure and overall engineering practice.
- Work across the organization to influence and improve the technical excellence of the whole organization.
- Maintain, optimize and scale cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters, for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
- Enhance monitoring and alerting practices to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Improve developer efficiency by automating processes and tasks using scripts and infrastructure as code tools.
- Lead design and implementation to improve shared services common abstractions, such as authentication, authorization, search, and notification services, to enhance security, developer productivity and user experience.
- Lead AI/LLM infrastructure to drive AI/LLM applications.
- Lead operations to ensure smooth running of applications and systems at Newfront.
- Collaborate with cross-functional design, product, and data science teams to design and deliver high-quality products and influence outcomes.
- Follow data-driven approaches to iterate product features.
- Help build out the team and cultivate innovation and growth by driving cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
- Mentor other engineers across the organization with best practices and be a player/coach of our high-performance team to ensure code quality, commitment to craft and operational excellence.
- Expert on industry technology trends in the relevant domain. Be bold on learning and adopting new technologies that benefit multiple teams. Being the thought leader for all teams.Qualifications:
- BS, MS or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in software development at scale.
- Strong Experience building, leading, and architecting large systems at enterprise.
- Strong programming and data engineering in one or more backend server languages (Java/Python/Ruby/Go/TypeScript/etc.).
- Experience with web development best practices such as container, docker, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
- Proficiency with RDBMS such as MySQL/PostgreSQL.
- Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders. Skilled at communicating with executives and with funneling information throughout engineering.
- Ability to take a thoughtful, pragmatic, and efficient approach to problem-solving.
- A track record of leading engineering project teams and working with cross-functional partners to deliver technical solutions that achieve team and organizational goals.
- Passion to up-level yourself and those around you through curiosity, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Strong background in infrastructure as code and tools like Terraform, cloud platforms, preferably AWS, cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker Awareness, CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with tools like CircleCI, or GitHub Actions.
