Client Development Manager - Washington DC

Miles & Stockbridge is hiring two Client Development Managers to support our growing firm. These Client Development Managers will be responsible for driving revenue through new business opportunities and existing client expansion programs, including strategic business planning, pitches and proposals, events and sponsorships, sales pipeline management, key client initiatives, and business development coaching and training. This position will work with attorneys in key sectors and geographical markets and target key clients to drive firm growth in a manner aligned with the firm's overall strategy.If you are an experienced Client Development Manager with a proven record of strategic business development success in key sectors, such as Health Care, Finance and Banking or geographic regions along the East Coast, we have an amazing team waiting to work with you!Responsibilities: - Develop in-depth knowledge of the firm's key sectors, markets and clients, including attorney expertise, firm experience, industry/trade group organizations, trends in the market and competitor positioning.
- Serve as the main point of contact for business development/marketing support for attorneys within key sectors and geographical markets.
- In collaboration with leadership, develop and monitor marketing and business development budgets aligned to the firm's strategic plan.
- Develop long-term client development plans and strategies for expanding current key clients across the firm.
- Provide ROI analysis on business development efforts, such as sponsorships and events, and incorporate feedback in future recommendations/budgets.
- Identify targets; develop pursuit strategies, including strategies and tactics to promote cross selling.
- Partner with the firm's Chief Legal Operations Officer and Practice Group Operations Manager, to understand key financial metrics for the firm's key clients, including profitability, and play an important role in folding those messages into future growth opportunities.
- Partner with the firm's Lawyer Recruiting department, to help evaluate and integrate strategic laterals into the firm.
- Identify potential new areas of growth in key markets that further support the firm's mission of providing innovative legal services.
- In collaboration with the Communications team, develop a thought leadership and content strategy that highlights and supports key growth priorities.
- Develop and maintain targeted client-focused pitch materials, message points, competitive intelligence and relevant client lists and experience management resources.
- Manage and respond to pitch/proposal and RFP requests, in collaboration with lawyers and our Sr. Manager of Marketing Technology and Operations.
- Draft and coordinate strategic directory ranking submissions (i.e. Chambers) for key markets.
- Coordinate focused sponsorships and memberships at client and community events.
- In collaboration with our Senior Events Manager, plan, organize, and manage client events, including the budget, and evaluate ROI before and after each event.
- In collaboration with the CBDMO, participate in and support the firm's client listening/feedback program.

- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
- 3-5 years' experience in a professional services firm, B2B marketing agency, or equivalent
- Must be able to listen and influence leaders across a matrixed organization
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to facilitate and solve problems
- Must be a highly organized self-starter
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues within various practices, sectors, marketing, business development, administrative and executive teams
- Ability to work in virtual teams and collaborate online
- Strong project management, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
