- Serve as NEI expert for, and provide leadership within NEI and the industry, on new nuclear initiatives.Principal Duties and Responsibilites:This position is primarily accountable for the technical expertise, management, and coordination of pertinent activities and information concerning New Nuclear issues being addressed by NEI. Situations may arise where this position may be assigned to coordinate, or participate with, other NEI staff members on a team to address an issue with the objective of bringin the issue to an acceptable resolution. This position is part of a team of new nuclear experts that lead the organization and industry in promoting the conditions necessary for successful new nuclear deployment to meet climate, energy, environmental, economic and national security goals. The incumbent has a responsibility to keep his or her Senior Director informed of the status of the respective issues. Primary Purpose

Responsibilities include any projects, as assigned, within the range of issues that are the responsibility of the New Nuclear Department in the Technical and Regulatory Services Division. This position is responsible for developing an accurate definition of the issue; for providing analysis to NEI management for their determination if there is a generic industry problem, and to provide the necessary information for communication to NEI members. He/she must also possess the ability for strategic planning in his/her area of responsibility. This position requires careful coordination of industry activities related to specific issues, including coordination with NEI members, with owners groups, and with other industry organizations. Routine interaction with the NRC, and other goverment agencies under the direction of the Senior Director, are also required to maintain effective communication on the issues and plans for resolution. Additionally, he/she must have the ability to interact with senior managers of NEI's member organizations. The incumbent is required to properly utilize and coordinate NEI Working Groups and Issue Task Forces, as well as any other applicable industry sponsored committee or activity. He/she may be required to chair an Issue Task Force or other NEI sponsored meeting. This requires the ability to analyze and understand the components of an issue, from both NEI members' and external stakeholders' perspectives, in order to prioritize the activities necessary for resolving the issue. Analytical abilities and an excellent sense of judgement are imperative to the decision-making required in this position. The incumbent is expected to work independently with light supervision.Job Specifications:Senior Project Manager: Minimum 5 years of nuclear energy experience Technical Advisor: A minimum of 15 years of nuclear energy experience. Nuclear energy experience is preferably at a utility, NSSS vendor government. There is a preference for experience related to new reactor licensing in the U.S., use of IAEA safety standards, engagement with the Department of Defense in their use of nuclear energy, and the development of training programs. The incumbent is expected to have the ability to obtain a Security Clearance at the Secret Level or greater.Skillsand Abilities - Excellence in oral and written communications
