We are also proud to be a unionized employer, with three labor unions representing more than half of our employees.Scope: The Associate Director, Digital Fundraising Strategy leads the strategy, planning and creative development of the Sierra Club's email and SMS fundraising program. This position performs a variety of programmatic, strategic, creative and analytic functions; identifies opportunities to improve online fundraising efforts; and works closely with others around the Sierra Club, as well as key consultants and vendors, to ensure that the email and SMS channels align with overall organizational priorities and delivers on revenue goals.Job activities include but are not limited to: - Manages Sierra Club's email and SMS fundraising program. Conceptualizes email campaigns and opportunities; oversees and develops copy and creative; and works with the Associate Director, Digital Fundraising to develop testing strategies and analyze program results.
- Owns digital onboarding and cultivation messaging streams. Monitors welcome series performance and proposes optimizations. Identifies opportunities for list cultivation and engagement in coordination with the Digital Strategies and Communications teams. Manages content collection and copy drafting for the weekly Insider newsletter.
- Drafts compelling campaign creative. Writes and edits copy for fundraising emails, SMS alerts, landing pages, and web promotions. Collaborates with the Web Strategy Director to produce web content that helps reach SEO goals and drafts paid search advertising copy as needed.
- Co-manages email and SMS implementation. Performs quality assurance on all outgoing email and SMS content, and assists in setup as needed.
- Collaborates to manage an integrated multichannel supporter experience. Works closely with key stakeholders in Digital Strategies to manage the email calendar and supporter experience, as well as ensure communications align with organizational priorities and revenue goals. Identifies opportunities for integration with other channels including web, paid advertising, social media, and direct mail.
- Manages 1-2 staff members on the Digital Marketing team. Works with direct reports to develop annual performance goals, provide ongoing support and feedback, and monitor job performance.The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:
- Significant experience managing the email and SMS fundraising programs for a mid-large sized nonprofit. Proven hands-on experience with successful direct response programs, specifically email and digital campaigns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing compelling and creative direct response campaigns for email, SMS and web.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to juggle multiple projects at once while meeting tight deadlines with occasional "rapid response" opportunities.
- Experience managing staff, including experience providing regular constructive feedback and performance evaluations.
