These tools range from Web based interactive GUIs to APIs as well as all the backend components and services required to support them. As the Deputy Director of Software Engineering at Catalist, you will manage a team of developers across all aspects of the product life cycle; the design and implementation of new products, the support of existing tools, and the deprecation of legacy offerings.The Deputy Director reports to the Director of Software Engineering.Principal Duties & Responsibilities - Assist the Director of Software Engineering with with the administration and management of day to day operations of the development team
- Generate development plans from available acceptance criteria, project guidelines, and other supporting materials
- Liaise with stakeholders on key issues as needed
- Define project scope, timelines, and resource allocation
- Guide the development team to create accurate ticket estimates
- Organize tickets into development goals and provide regular updates of team progress
- Mentor junior developers, provide technical guidance, and assist in their professional development
- Work with the Director of Software Engineering to guide the direction of Catalist's technology plansRequirements
- Bachelor's of science degree or equivalent experience
- Broad understanding of the technology landscape
- Understanding of best practices in software development
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Core Technical Knowledge: SQL, Java, Bash, Python
- Background check requiredPreferred Skills & Abilities
