DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Associate III to join our Office of Publishing. You will help to support email marketing systems (Marketing Cloud) and user databases by monitoring and managing workflow process, assisting with data hygiene and integrity efforts, and assisting with list growth efforts. You will also be responsible for overseeing campaigns to generate submissions for our Prizes & Awards program. In this role, you will work to successfully create and execute email marketing, print, digital and social campaigns, and will communicate closely with internal teams, vendors, and clients to ensure that marketing is created and executed in a timely manner, adheres to branding guidelines, and meets client expectations. Additional tasks will include creating marketing plans and web landing pages, managing marketing calendars and reporting on the effectiveness of systems and campaigns. Travel to exhibits, tradeshows and Award ceremonies will be required. What You'll Do Marketing Systems & Data Support - Assist with the management and monitoring of email marketing systems and databases (mainly Marketing Cloud).
- Work to develop and maintain list data integrity and list hygiene processes and email requalification programs.
- Provide support for testing forms and other entry points of user data into marketing systems.
- Create and maintain documentation on naming conventions, systems, data and privacy processes.
- Keep updated on system enhancements and legal and privacy regulations. Meet with staff regularly to share KPI's, as well as communicate changes/updates in data, systems, and privacy processes.
Marketing Prizes & Awards - Manage the marketing budget, strategy, and campaign implementation for our Prizes & Awards program.
- Create collateral to promote Prizes & Awards and generate applications and announce the winner(s).
- Submit plans and creative materials to supervisors for approval.
- Work closely with the Editorial and Sales teams, vendors, and clients, to ensure that communication and marketing occurs in a timely fashion and meets the standards of Science/AAAS.
- Tasks may include, writing marketing copy, coding html emails, routing materials for approval, creating posts and sharing on social channels, creating surveys, creating filtered email lists, using marketing automation systems to deploy emails, working with designers to create online banners and print ads, facilitating ad placements online, in social channels, and within email alerts.
- Oversee the creation of landing pages for prize materials and submissions.
- Create and manage a calendar for campaigns, and report on submissions and marketing efforts.
- Some travel may be required to attend and assist with Prize and Awards ceremonies.
Lead/Traffic Generation - Work with supervisor to develop and execute strategies to drive traffic to Prizes and Awards webpages and program.

- Utilized tracking methods to be able to identify efforts for reporting.

- Create and distribute KPI reports on user data for marketing.
- Create and distribute reports on traffic and lead generation efforts.
- Create and distribute weekly status updates on Prizes & Awards projects.
- Create and distribute weekly status updates on automation system and user data projects.
Miscellaneous Projects - Assist with various projects to meet departmental goals.
- Travel and assist at events and trade shows as needed.
- Manage social media channels for Prizes & Awards marketing.
- Identify issues and opportunities, communicate them effectively, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, or related field. Or equivalent work experience.
- Requires 2-5 years' experience and proven ability to implement successful email marketing, print, digital and social campaigns.
- High level understanding of email marketing laws & best practices (i.e. CANSPAM, GDPR, CASL, etc).
- High level understanding of surveys, forms, databases and data structure.
- Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand processes, identify issues and opportunities, communicate them effectively, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Project Management/Marketing Strategy-Flexibility, resourcefulness, and ability to organize and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, set priorities for multiple projects, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate expertise in training team members in business and system processes.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues, external vendors, clients, speakers, and contractors.
- Ability to travel and represent Science/AAAS at events and tradeshows as needed, including setting up, tearing down and staffing a booth.
