As a Respiratory Therapist, you get the opportunity to help those having issues breathing, whether it be from a blocked passageway, an intense asthma attack, or another life-threatening experience. Respiratory therapy focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, management, and rehabilitation of patients breathing and/or other cardiopulmonary issues. - - - What you should expect to do in this role: - - You will perform assessment and therapeutic modalities for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients as ordered or directed by a physician. -
- You monitor environmental control systems, patients on mechanical ventilation, Bipap, CPAP, and various oxygen support systems. -
- You will be responsible for maintaining secure and patent patient airway to include performing nasal, nasotracheal, endotracheal and oral suctioning, pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, nebulized medication therapy, chest physiotherapy, and oxygen therapy delivery in various modalities. -
- You will provide Bag/value/mask ventilation, and other accepted treatments to maintain a patent airway. -
- You will need to understand pharmacological indications, dosages, and response to adverse drug reactions. -
- Recognizes life threatening situations and initiates appropriate response.--- -
