Position in this function is responsible to obtain and test specimens, recording and reporting results for timely and accurate diagnostic procedures to aid in the diagnosis of disease states. This position will be located at 1633 Medical Center Point. Primary Responsibilities: -
Perform tests authorized by Operations Manager and commensurate with individual's education, training, experience, and technical abilities -
Follow procedures for specimen procurement, processing, analysis, and reporting and recording of results -
Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document quality control activities, instruments and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed -
Follow laboratory corrective action policies and procedures when test system is not in range of acceptable level of performance -
Identify problems and correct them and/or immediately notify technical consultant or manager -
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from laboratory's established performance specifications -
Maintain records of proficiency samples -
Perform wavied, moderate and high complexity testing -
Understand and complie with regulations set forth by OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and other state and federal laws -
Show good judgment, initiative, discretion, cooperation, and professionalism at all times -
File, maintain logs,fill out requisitions, orders and perform other miscellaneous tasks as required -
Maintains adequate inventory of reagents, consumabiles and supplies to maintain par values -
Answer telephone, quickly identifying self and department -
Actively participate in CQI and procedure writing -
Perform basic and advanced troubleshooting on instruments as asked or when needed -

Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures, OSHA and other related regulations and guidelines, and ensure department compliance -
Use, protect, and disclose Optum patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards -
Attend and complete all required training and development to include annual compliance training -
Perform any additional duties or responibilites as requested -

Required Qualifications: -
Associate's degree in a science-related field -
Degree from an accredited medical laboratory technician school with laboratory experience or laboratory internship including phlebotomy -
ASCP or equivalent Medical Laboratory Technician certification -
Computer Skills: -
Basic computer skills and working knowledge of laboratory computer systems. -
Language Ability: -
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. -
Mathematical Ability: -
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, dilutions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. -
Reasoning Ability: -
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Preferred Qualification: - Experience performing routine patient phlebotomy
