The QA Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining the quality programs at Blue Moose of Boulder. This position will ensure that all quality programs meet or exceed FSMA, SQF, and HACCP standards as well as all other regulatory, customer and company related quality and food safety requirements. This position will oversee and ensure timely completion of all quality related tasks and schedules to ensure compliance. The QA Manager will also support the development of new products, reformulation of existing products and lead the quality review process for confirming that all productsproduced at Blue Moose of Boulder are consistent with the quality and sensory attributes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Coordinates the implementation, adherence and maintenance of the Blue Moose Quality System, FSMA, Gluten Free (GFCO), Non-GMO Project Verified, Organic, Gluten free Certification and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs for Blue Moose of Boulder. Leads and mentor s kitchen Team Members in recipe preparation and establishes daily work priorities in conjunction with the Operations Manager. Develops detailed work instructions to ensure consistency in product formulation and makes certain that team member safety and food quality practices are incorporated in all activities.Reviews, updates, and creates quality programs and policies in coordination with the Director of Quality and/or Director of Operations. Evaluates product formulation and quality data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.Ensures scheduled quality tests and analysis on raw materials, finished products, production equipment and environment are completed in timely manner and results evaluated for opportunities for improvement.Assures that assigned projects are completed and documented on time.Assures that Quality Department calibrates and maintains kitchen and quality equipment.Reviews, updates and disseminates quality and technical information to internal and external customers.Assists the Operations Manager in onboarding, training and developing Team Members.Leads and supports regulatory/customer/3rd-party inspectors to ensure the facility, equipment and operations meet or exceed all regulatory food safety and quality requirements.Provides input on Team Member performance reviews to the Operations Manager.Complies with all company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies as well as reinforces compliance by all Blue Moose employees and contract workers.Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to the Operations Manager and Director of Quality or other appropriate individual authorized to initiate actionBackup Provision: In the absence QA Manager fulfills the food safety responsibilities of the QA Supervisor.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor s Degree is preferred.3-5 years of related experience, highly desirable. QA experience within the food manufacturing industry, preferred.OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of scientific principles and practices that provide the foundation for laboratory testing including microbiology, chemistry.Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles and analysis techniques to maximize the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenDemonstrated interpersonal skills, with special ability to lead and establish work priorities with team members. Critical thinking and decision-making skills to consider and identify the strengths and weakness of alternative solutions and chose the most appropriate course of action. Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively and in a way that other Team Members will understand. Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and work-related documents. Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions or apply general rules to specific problems. Ability to work independently as well as on a team.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must complete HACCP certification program within 3 months of hire. Must complete SQF Practitioner certification within 3 months of hire. Other recommended PPE includes face shield, chemical resistant apron and steel toe shoes.
