Role: Design Release Engineer (DRE) - Body Exterior or Lighting or Safety Systems

Location: Irvine, CA (Onsite) - Full-Time

We are hiring multiple Design Release Engineers (DREs) with strong experience in Automotive Body Exterior, Lighting, and Safety Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end design release of components such as:Exterior Trim: Bumper, Fascia, Cladding, Spoiler, Garnish
Lighting Systems: Headlamps, Tail lamps, Corner lamps, Center light panel
Occupant Safety Components: Airbags, Seat belts, ODS, Occupant Sensors


Perform feasibility studies, packaging analysis, and ensure integration with surrounding systems
Collaborate with Styling, CAE, Manufacturing, and Tier-1 suppliers
Drive component release using PLM tools (Teamcenter/Enovia)
Support prototype and production builds, resolving design and quality issues

Key Skills & Tools:

Proficiency in CATIA V6 for 3D modeling and 2D drawings
Solid understanding of plastic part design, tooling, and manufacturing processes
Experience in automotive lighting design and exterior component development
Familiarity with FMVSS and regulatory standards for safety systems
Strong supplier interface and DVP&R / DFMEA / BOM management
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
5-10+ years of experience in Automotive Engineering (Exterior, Lighting, or Safety)
Prior experience with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in DRE capacity preferred More...
