About us:At Eon, we are at the forefront of large-scale neuroscientific connectomic data collection. Our mission is to enable the safe and scalable development of brain emulation technology to empower humanity over the next decade, beginning with the creation of a fully emulated digital twin of a mouse within the next two years.RoleWe are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Scientist or Senior Scientist to join our team and lead our mouse surgery efforts. This role will be critical in conducting and overseeing surgeries for two-photon calcium imaging, structural analysis, and slice electrophysiology. As one of the first hires, the candidate will play a key role in setting up protocols, managing mouse-related work, and ensuring the success of our experimental goals. This is a full time, in person role in the Bay Area.Responsibilities

  • Mouse Surgery and Experimental Techniques: Perform and oversee mouse surgeries for two-photon calcium imaging, viral injections, and other experimental techniques.
  • Electrophysiology Preparations: Create preparations for mouse slice electrophysiology experiments and related neural tissue analyses.
  • Surgical Protocol Development: Develop, refine, and implement surgical protocols to optimize research outcomes.
  • Mouse Colony Management: Manage mouse handling, breeding, and colony maintenance, ensuring the health and welfare of the animals.
  • Tissue Sample Collection and Analysis: Collect mouse tissue samples and perform histological and molecular analyses.
  • Staff Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor junior staff on mouse-related techniques, surgeries, and post-surgical care.Skills and Qualifications
    • 5+ years of experience performing mouse surgeries, including viral injections, two-photon calcium imaging, and slice electrophysiology.
    • Extensive experience in mouse handling, breeding, and colony management.
    • Strong expertise in mouse tissue collection and post-mortem analysis.
    • Proven ability to work independently and troubleshoot surgical and experimental issues.
    • Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and data recording skills.
    • Experience in experimental design and protocol development.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.Key ProjectsThese are examples of projects that you would be working on when joining us:
