EVERGREEN VALLEY UNITED METHODIST CHURCHOFFICE AND FACILITIES MANAGERJOB DESCRIPTION (March 2025)Job Title: Office and Facilities Manager (OFM)Job Purpose: Support the ministries and staff of Evergreen Valley United Methodist Church (EVUMC). The OFM works with the pastor to manage the administrative details of EVUMC and is the primary contact for those both inside and outside the church. The OFM is also responsible for facilities management.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Facilities - including handling requests for church use, acting as liaison between renters and EVUMC, ensuring all paperwork is in order, managing repairs and coordinating with repair technicians, coordinating janitorial and landscaping personnel, and managing the church calendar. (30%)
  • Office Support - managing communications (mail, email, telephone, in-person visits), maintaining files and records, and purchasing office supplies as needed. (20%)
  • Other duties and responsibilities as they arise.Required Qualifications:
    • Education: High school diploma or higher.
    • Experience: No experience necessary; 3-5 years preferred.
    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      • Ability to work well with the Pastor.
      • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Strong interpersonal skills.
      • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and keep records updated.
      • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
      • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
      • Knowledge of standard office equipment.Preferred Qualifications:
        • Experience and understanding of Filipino culture and community ties.
        • Previous experience as an office manager or administrative assistant.
        • Proficiency with social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.Working Conditions:
          • Primarily office environment with some outdoor work.
          • Light lifting (under 20 lbs.) required.
          • Work hours include Sunday mornings (4 excused Sundays per year), and some evenings or outside normal hours (1-2 times per month).
          • Completion of Safe Sanctuary training and background check required.Hours and Compensation:
            • 10-20 hours per week.
            • Wages: $21 per hour, paid biweekly.Reporting and Evaluation:The Office Manager reports directly to the Pastor. The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) conducts annual reviews based on input from the Pastor and handles HR questions.Benefits:
              • Vacation: Accrued based on employment duration, with specific hours for less than 2 years and 2+ years.
              • Holidays: Ten unpaid holidays annually, including Christmas Eve and Easter (mandatory unless prior permission given).
              • Sick Leave: Accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, up to 80 hours/year, with a maximum of 40 hours paid sick leave annually.
