Bring your determination to succeed, and we'll provide you with the appropriate environment. - - The ideal candidate: - Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification or extensive experience as a Senior Veterinary Assistant.
- Proficiency in animal handling, restraint, and nursing care.
- Excellent knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Experience with diagnostic equipment, including radiology and laboratory equipment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to empathize and communicate effectively with pet owners.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
- Prior experience in an urgent care or emergency veterinary setting is highly desirableDuties you will be responsible for in this role:
- Perform triage and provide immediate medical attention to incoming patients.
- Collect and record patient history, vital signs, and symptoms.
- Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgeries.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology.
- Monitor patients under anesthesia and assist with dental cleanings.
- Educate clients on proper animal care and medication administration.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
- Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
- Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license) -
Basic Required Qualifications: - High school diploma
