Position overview Position title: Assistant Professor Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $120,000-$136,000. Position description The Halcolu Data Science Institute (HDSI) at the University of California, San Diego invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Statistical Foundations of Data Science. HDSI is a unique and dynamic unit on campus, with its own distinguished tenure-track faculty, dedicated PhD students, innovative undergraduate program, and robust connections to industry. We seek outstanding candidates with a strong research track record in Statistics and a commitment to advancing and nurturing Data Science for generations to come. As a pivotal member of HDSI, the successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research in Statistics, play a key role in mentoring students, and contribute to the Institute's scholarly community. This position involves teaching university students. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Department: https://datascience.ucsd.edu/ Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) PhD or equivalent degree, or Advancement to Candidacy, in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related field. Preferred qualifications The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated excellence in statistics and data science research, a passion for innovative and effective teaching across diverse audiences, and a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia.
