This includes medical, behavioral health, law enforcement, and social service records related to suicide deaths. The position ensures information is accurately represented and de-identified in case narratives. These narratives are utilized to guide review committee discussions and inform actionable public health recommendations. All work is conducted using a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and person-centered approach. This reflects respect and empathy for decedents and their families. Key responsibilities include reviewing, extracting, and summarizing data from various records. The Nurse Abstractor will identify and document key life circumstances, system interactions, and risk and protective factors related to the decedent’s experience. Comprehensive, de-identified case summaries suitable for multidisciplinary committee review will be developed. Data will be entered into secure databases in compliance with relevant requirements and quality assurance practices. Collaboration with team members will be essential to prioritize cases and prepare materials for review meetings.
