Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Support patients recovering from complex medical conditions in a progressive care unit setting focused on skilled, compassionate nursing care. This contract opportunity is located in a close-knit community in Shelby, NC, offering a 33-bed stepdown unit with a strong emphasis on teamwork and patient experience. Responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as stroke rule-outs, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, atrial fibrillation, COPD, and other complex conditions. Manage essential nursing functions including tracheostomy care, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care, and central line management. Collaborate effectively with CNAs, reception staff, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/VAT teams, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists to ensure seamless patient care. Utilize EMR systems like EPIC and technology including Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips telemetry monitors, and various fall prevention and patient positioning tools. Be prepared to float within the regional facilities as needed, with travel time compensated. Maintain professional standards, wearing navy blue scrubs and adhering to unit protocols. Qualifications: Current RN licensure with certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Minimum of 18 months PCU stepdown experience. Strong skills in teamwork, communication, and clinical nursing functions. Comfortable working with telemetry and critical care nursing equipment. Agreeable to floating within the specified region. Schedule & Work Environment: 12-hour shifts: 7a-7p or 7p-7a with a six-week rotating schedule. Weekend rotation every other weekend. No on-call responsibilities. Work approximately 75% of holidays with up to 6 approved days off excluding holidays. Free parking available. Orientation provided to ensure smooth transition.
