What You Will Do:The Developing Manager will report to the Developing Director, responsible for supporting the Global R&D department. Our Engineering Developers lead teams made up of multiple multidisciplinary development squads, responsible for a focused area and RLDatix Human Capital Management stack. They are accountable for delivering all software projects performed by the team on time, budget and to the expected levels of quality.This role will include liaising with internal and external stakeholders and how they work together. A crucial part of the role is Team Management: Identify and plan to remove single points of failure within the team. Participate and drive recruitment activities where applicable. Ensure all team members have clear and measurable objectives tied to R&D's strategic plan coupled with personal development plans. Additionally, this person will be responsible for: Engineering Management: Work closely and effectively with the Engineering Management Team and functional leads (Quality, DevOps, TechOps, Architecture) to safeguard a high-class engineering culture. Ensure teams are aligned with strategic business objectives, and that requirements from Product Management and support are achievable and understood Implement good internal management practices within the team ensuring good communication and collaboration exists between squads and with other teams. Regularly report status against projects and proactively manage risk, escalating where necessary Promote high standards of engineering excellence and champion good software engineering practices within the team and the department. Stakeholder Management: Develop strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders including (but not limited to) Product Management and Support within each market. Manage and develop external relationships with both partners and customers. Key Performance Measures: Product delivery in line with project timelines, cost and quality Employee engagement (specifically within the team) Customer satisfaction through product quality measures and external NPS The role requires an individual that has the ability to work to tight deadlines. The role holder will have strong written and verbal skills, and be able to work well in a team environment, with competency in: Team Leading - Able to lead, manage the performance of and motivate a team effectively. Leading Change - Positive about change, adapting rapidly to changing circumstances and encouraging flexibility in others. Supportive in implementing key strategic changes within R&D whilst taking an innovative approach to solving problems and considers alternatives. Considers a range of possible options, evaluating evidence and seeking advice where appropriate and ultimately making well considered, clear, timely and justifiable decisions (or recommendations). Communication - Effective communication skills suitable for the management of and liaison with colleagues within the team, Engineering Management Team, R&D Management Team and other senior stakeholders, both on a one to one and one to many basis. Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, with colleagues and customers including producing/reviewing technical documentation, preparing, organising and delivering presentations using appropriate tools and techniques, and taking a leading role in meetings and discussions. Planning and Organising - Effective at determining a course of action by breaking it down into smaller steps and by planning and resourcing each of these, making allowance for potential problems. Building Relationships - Able to develop effective relationships with RLDatix colleagues and customers. Able to respond appropriately to feedback. Understanding RLDatix - Aware of RLDatix strategies, policies, and procedures. Aware of how the organisation operates. Influencing and Impact - Ability to influence both within the R&D Team and the wider RLDatix organisation. Act in a professional manner and exhibit the required behaviour that should provide an example to other employees. Needs to delegate tasks, responsibilities, and authorities effectively. Identify goals and objectives and motivating and leading others towards their achievement. Able to network throughout the wider RLDatix business and the user community. Experience/Knowledge You Will Need:Candidates should ideally have: Strong skills and demonstrable experience in product development and software engineering. Demonstrable experience managing multi-discipline teams of direct and indirect reports. Minimum of bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in software engineering, computer science or mathematics Strong experience in developing SaaS products Experience working in cloud environments, such as AWS and Azure and good understanding of the benefits and challenges around developing products in this environment. Strong experience working in an Agile (especially SCRUM) environment. Excellent interpersonal skills: able to recruit, motivate and lead a team, as well as communicate effectively with non-technical people.
