Wood Designs is looking for a Product Sourcing/Compliance Director to join our team in Monroe, NC (relocation assistance available). The ideal candidate is someone with high energy, a curiosity about the industry, and tenacity. This person will bring new ideas, think outside the box, and have a deep passion for the role.
Job Mission: Management of product development and sourcing for assigned categories/area in all countries.

• Drive proprietary product development to decrease time to market
  
• Broaden product catalog in existing and new categories
  
• Continually increase quality, standards, and margin
  
• Increase project capacity & productivity
  
• Mastermind compliance policies & protocols on behalf of the organization
  
  Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a compliance program to ensure our organization operates in accordance with state and federal laws.
    
  • Determine compliance metrics and establish a system for tracking them.
    
  • Remain up to date on federal and state laws related to the organization and update policies accordingly.
    
  • Create a compliance resource library for staff to reference when they have questions.

    • Partner with Product Design, Quality & Compliance, Merchandising & Inventory to manage assigned projects for cost effective timely product development with adequate lead-time for stock
      
    • Ensure that our branding objectives are represented in each product with proper standards in quality, branding, and packaging
      
    • Train and/or maintain training established with each vendor, agent and forwarder regarding standards (i.e. drop testing, factory evaluation, emails, labeling/ packaging, quality standards, new vendor training, vendor compliance, product testing, trips ---)
      
    • Provide sound judgment and decision making from learnings through each project
      
    • Learn, maintain and grow partnerships with each agent, vendor and forwarder
      
    • Import/regulations compliance - classify items in development, maintain required item records, ensure import and US regulations followed for each item
      
    • Maintain vendor & agent detailed records
      
    • Item Records - all product development records are to be complete and accurate
      
    • Price increases - prepare chart accurately with all details for Sourcing review before moving forward to negotiate with agent/vendor.
      
    • Support Quality & Compliance team as needed for package testing, quality and vendor compliance issues

      • Should have a strong moral code and sense of ethics.
        
      • Familiarity with CFR Title 16, ASTM, CPC/GCC, CPSIA/CPSC, ANSI/BIFMA/UL, SOR, California TB117, UPLR and warning labels, AATCC Method 8, CARB, etc.
        
        Qualifications:
        
        
        
        • Bachelor's degree in business management, legal studies, business administration, project management or a similar field
          
        • 2+ years of sourcing experience required
          
        • Additional certifications in the field of compliance and administration are a bonus.
          
        • Extremely organized, experience with large volume of projects and project management preferred
          
        • Strong attention to detail and communication skills. Quick learner.
