Job Title: Meat Department Manager Department: Store Reports To: Store ManagerSUMMARYMaintain and supervise a profitable Meat Department of retail store by performing the following duties. Maintain profitability and production standards. Promote the general welfare of the store.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Safety sensitive position for drug and alcohol testing.Provide excellent customer service. Follow company Policies and procedures.Prepares daily schedule and directs activities of employees.Conducts in-service training for employees.Keeps record of current sales prices of food items and total sales volume.Stays competitive in pricing for area.Prepares market activity reports for management.Estimates requirements to maintain good variety of products. Orders merchandise from warehouse and suppliers.Checks in merchandise, verifies quantities, and prepares paperwork.Cuts, trims, and bones carcass sections or prime cuts to reduce to cooking cuts such as roasts, steaks, chops, stew cubes, and grinding meat.Ability to accurately perform cutting test.Cleans, cuts, and weigh meats, fish and poultry.Shapes, laces, and ties meat cuts by hand to form roasts.Places meat in containers to be wrapped and displayed. Affixes required labels to products.Places meat on trays in display counter.Wraps and Weights meat for special orders.Unloads meat from delivery truck and stores meat into refrigerator.Cleans and sanitizes shelves, bins, tables, coolers, grinders, meat containers and work areas to meet required regulations and company standards.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervises 1 or more employees in the Meat Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
