Description:At *Heart of America Eye Care*, we have an amazing job opportunity for an *Ophthalmic Medical Scribe**. *The primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician in the clinic setting. As a scribe, you must be able to anticipate physician needs, communicate clearly to patients and staff members, and effectively multi-task in order to facilitate clinic flow. Candidate should have previous Medical Scribe experience, preferably in the Ophthalmology field.*This is a Monday - Friday, day-shift position. In addition to a rewarding career, we offer a comprehensive wellness package that includes exciting benefits such as:** Excellent health insurance benefits to include counseling and support services* Generous 401k matching program* Paid time off* Paid holidays* Employee Perk Package* and more...Some duties our Medical Scribe will be responsible:* Consistently performs proper documentation of case history, confrontation visual fields, pupil evaluation, screening extra-ocular muscle function, visual acuity, assessment of angle depth, instillation of diagnostic pharmaceutical agents, amsler grid and other functions as directed by the clinical physician* Accurately and thoroughly document ophthalmic exams and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.* List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the physician* Provide patients and/or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician* Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays* Obtains eyeglass prescriptions via lensometer* Performs patient testing accurately and effectively as directed by the clinical provider(s) i.e. Slit Lamp Exam, PAMS, Visual Fields, Color Test, Tonometry, OCTs, Fundus Photos, etc.* If assigned to a retina specialist assists retina physician(s) with intraocular injections as needed* Effectively communicates physician instructions to patients and documents accordingly* Assists the physician with pharmacy calls, patient calls, etc.* Ensures the scheduling template is being followed correctly* Ensures all patient lanes are clean and well-stocked at the end of each day* Ensures all equipment is turned off and covered properly at the end of the day* Completes tech station duties daily* Call in Rxs Only certified ophthalmic techs can ERx. The exception is the tech can ERx if scribing for a doctor and the script is done under the doctors name* Always exhibits a professional demeanor with a positive enthusiastic attitude when representing the practice* Maintains certification, where applicable, and continues to improve skills. Must attend in-service and webinar training seminars as directed by the Clinical ManagerRequirements:Education and Experience:* High school diploma or GED required* Bachelors degree or Associate Degree in a related field highly preferred* Two years of ophthalmology scribe or technician experience preferred* Must complete the home study ophthalmic program within six months of employment* JCAHPO COA Certification required within 18 months of employment* Prefer COT Certification*ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES** Must have proficient computer skills* Must be able to problem solve* Must have excellent communication skills, proper grammar and writing capability* Must be team-oriented* Must be self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment* Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time accurately and efficiently* Must have exceptional interpersonal skills* Must possess a caring, patient, and friendly attitude* Must have complete knowledge of all forms (paper & electronic) that are used in the practice* Must understand the anatomy & physiology of the eye* Strong hospitality and communication skills*If you are seeking new adventures in patient care and have a passion for going above and beyond to ensure all our patients are given the best patient experience, then we want to hear from you...
